Position Profile

This position is responsible for Jazz Pharmaceuticals Project Management, Operations and Analytics for R&D, including processes, systems and tools for R&D, metrics and key reporting to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and is a key owner of Portfolio Strategy and Governance for development decisions for the Company.  This position also oversees coordination of R&D elements of Joint Ventures and Alliances and any integration initiatives follow asset acquisition.    

Essential Functions

  • Establish the vision and operating model for Jazz R&D Project Management. This includes the development of process, systems and tools for Portfolio, Project and Resource Management.
  • Responsible for cross functional project & resource management in R&D while considering the (functional) project management model for Jazz in an integrated way.
  • Ensuring accurate tracking, reporting and benchmarking of project milestones, deliverables, and actuals.
  • Ownership of the cross-functional team and sub-team structures across functional areas to drive transparency, efficiency and accountability in the Jazz R&D Organization
  • Process owner of R&D Governance (including decision making requirements), stage gate approval processes, and key interfaces with Corporate governance bodies, across all phases of the product lifecycle
  • Secretary / Decision Support Leader of the Portfolio Review and Development Committee (for R&D Program Governance)
  • Responsible for R&D governance and collaboration model of external partnerships, alliances and acquisitions (post transaction)
  • Oversees the post-acquisition integration of R&D programs and capabilities into the R&D Operating model
  • Oversee the delivery of best-in-class capabilities for R&D Operations in the areas of Capacity Management, Project Management, R&D Business Analytics, Collaboration and Decision Support
  • Work in conjunction with relevant functions (eg. Finance and HR) to oversee R&D financial and human resource planning.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in relevant discipline, preferred with MBA.
  • Ten (10) or more years of directly applicable experience in Pharmaceutical R&D
  • Experience with the end-to-end drug development process, including (Project Management or Leadership of) late stage development and NDA/BLA/MAA submissions.
  • Experience with Decision Support / Governance Leadership
  • Experience with Asset Integration Management
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment is crucial.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a team of professionals with cross functional responsibilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
