Position Profile

The Manager, Access and Reimbursement (infused/physician administered products – ARM, Pain Team) is responsible for ensuring reimbursement and patient access for the Jazz Pain Business Unit products for regional and national accounts within the assigned territory. The ARM will provide customer education on disease awareness and aspects of payer formulary and directly support prescribing physicians and support staff regarding coverage, reimbursement, and patient access programs for Jazz products.

The ARM (infused/physician administered products – Pain Team) will maintain expertise in specialty pharmacy, billing & reimbursement guidelines by payor and site of care, understanding of coding guidelines (CPT/J-Code/ICD-10), DRGs, statutory or commercial pricing structures, and quality programs related to value based care and clinical care pathways.  He/She will execute regional and local market plans to support field based priorities and manage, address and/or triage local health policy, reimbursement, billing / coding, and patient access issues. 

Internally, the ARM will work in collaboration with other Access and Reimbursement Teams (hematology/oncology and patient self-administered products), Patient Support Services, Managed Markets, Field Sales, Sales Management, Trade, Field Medical, internal Commercial teams, and other cross-functional partners to achieve the business unit objectives and alleviate reimbursement issues impacting physician offices and the ability of patients to access the Jazz portfolio of products.  This position presents a unique and broad opportunity for an individual to develop in the commercial and government payer arena.

This territory will cover the Northeast region of the US to ideally include the following states:

  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Northern Virginia
  • Parts of New England

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Incorporate knowledge of dynamic and complex marketplace and business trends to deliver maximum access to the portfolio of Jazz products.
  • Possess expertise in and deep understanding of specialty pharmacy.
  • Develop and maintain a relevant network of key Payer accounts, Medicare agencies (MACs) and Workers Comp Organizations.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Payer Team (as needed) to address patient access issues related to specific Commercial Payers and Health Care Plans, State Medicaid Agencies, Managed Medicaid Organizations, Pharmacy Benefit Organizations, Group Purchasing Organizations, Department of Defense and Veterans Integrated Service Networks specific to assigned reimbursement initiatives and product requirements.
  • Anticipate changing payer landscape by demonstrating a deep understanding and knowledge of public payer emerging trends that can impact access for Jazz products and pipeline.
  • Manage and develop administrative C-level relationships with relevant personnel at assigned Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and specialty pharmacy accounts (as needed) within defined geographical region of the US.
  • Provide compliant support and education to assigned customer accounts and networks for activities related to appropriate patient access to Jazz products.
  • Provide direct support to prescribing physicians and support staff regarding reimbursement, coding and patient access issues.
  • Collaborate with other Access and Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) and the Patient Services HUB team to resolve or prevent account issues related to proper coding, billing, denials, and revenue recovery related to product coverage and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with Account Management, Patient Support Services, and HUB vendor teams on specific Payer issues.
  • Effectively and compliantly communicate issue resolution updates to the Jazz Market Access and Field Sales organization, as well as to key external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliant processes are in place to drive clear communication with Jazz field teams to ensure clarity of reimbursement issues and opportunities and support pull-through efforts.
  • As needed, conduct regional business reviews and updates  with assigned regional sales and cross-functional team(s), within compliance guidelines.
  • Participate in teleconference and live National, regional and district meetings and training sessions; represent Jazz at national and/or local conventions when requested.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree required; MBA or MPH preferred.
  • Healthcare/Hospital Administration, Specialty Pharmacy and/or Healthcare Financial/Revenue Cycle experience a plus.
  • Experience with reimbursement of injectable products in private practice, hospital/institutional, and outpatient settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective account management and strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Experience

  • BA/BS Degree (MBA or MPH preferred).
  • Industry Experience:  5-10 years (minimum).
  • Minimum 5 years Reimbursement, Medical Device, Health System account management, Market Access experience (specialty pharmacy experience preferred).
  • In depth understanding of Health System (IDN)/ Hospital / Large Group Practice Revenue Cycle Management (preferred).
  • In depth understanding of Payer policies (preferred).
  • Excellent analytical skills focusing on key accounts and uncovering business opportunities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions within time/resource constraints.
  • Proven skills in strategic decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Extensive travel required
  • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands.
  • Frequent interactions with external contacts in their office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
  • Frequent computer laptop or tablet use, not usually at a workstation.
  • Frequent public contact requiring appropriate business apparel.
