Position Profile

The Marketing Director, Disease Education for Solriamfetol will help refine and execute the US HCP launch strategy for Solriamfetol (e.g. positioning, messaging, branding and HCP outreach).  The Marketing Director, Disease Education, will lead efforts to raise awareness of Excessive Sleepiness within the Obstructive Sleep Apnea market.  This leader will focus on disease awareness within the multispecialty HCP market of sleep specialists, pulmonologists, neurologists, psychiatrists and PCPs.  The Marketing Director will lead and align cross-functional teams through successful execution of disease awareness and promotional medical education efforts prior to product launch as well as post launch.  This role requires application of professional marketing expertise and operational leadership to achieve launch results.

The candidate will help drive product adoption within FDA-approved indication(s) as well as develop short and long term strategic plans to maximize the value of Solriamfetol for HCPs and for Jazz Inc.  This position will report to the Solriamfetol Marketing Lead, Sleep Business Unit.  This position will also have a direct report to assist with KOL development, engagement and management and disease awareness promotional efforts.

Additionally, the position entails strong strategic/analytical thinking as well as creativity and decision-making skills. A proven track record of success in developing and executing HCP marketing tactics specifically raising disease awareness and working in a team-based environment is critical for this role.

This individual will:

  • Lead the development and execution of the Solriamfetol HCP Disease Awareness strategy and promotional medical education across appropriate channels
    • Initiate and analyze qualitative and quantitative market data to continually gain a deeper understanding of the customer, brand, disease area, and market.  Propose informed strategies and tactics to address key unmet needs.
  • Work with the marketing team to participate in the development of the annual brand plan; lead development of the tactical plan/budget
  • Participate in cross functional sub-teams to ensure alignment and appropriate execution on launch plan; become a trusted partner in this setting
  • Lead the KOL mapping and engagement strategy to support disease awareness campaign for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and/or Narcolepsy
  • Lead the development and implementation of Solriamfetol Digital promotional medical education efforts (website, search, banner ads)
  • Identify opportunities to innovate with a broad view on cross functional appropriateness and a special focus on regulatory and compliance
  • Oversee agency partners and other vendors to ensure strategic alignment and executional excellence
  • Manage overall brand A&P budget ensuring spend within 2% of budget
    • Responsible for marketing budget and accrual process with finance department

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated cross-functional leadership
  • Proven track record of identifying physician insights and developing effective HCP strategies and tactics based on these insights
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Team oriented individual with solid communication skills including significant experience presenting to senior management and large audiences.
  • Approximately 30-40% travel is required. 
  • The position is located in the Philadelphia, PA office however qualified candidates may alternatively work in the Palo Alto, CA office. Relocation to a home office is required.           

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree (life sciences or a related discipline a plus (e.g. sleep))
  • MBA (preferred)
  • 10+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with significant retail and HCP experience, Launch experience preferred

Description of Physical Demands

  • Frequent travel between meeting sites.
  • Frequently operating a computer, printer, telephone and other similar office machinery.

Description of Work Environment

  • Frequent interactions with external contacts in their office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
  • Frequent computer laptop or tablet use, not usually at a workstation.
  • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands.
  • Frequent public contact requiring appropriate business apparel.
