Position Profile

The Associate Director, Project Management, Technical Operations, will provide project management expertise as a member of the Project Management team within Technical Operations at Jazz Pharmaceuticals. The incumbent will be part of global, cross-functional teams supporting CMC development projects and commercial products. The incumbent will work closely with the CMC Team Leads to ensure successful completion of the project deliverables. In addition, the incumbent will participate in ongoing project management process administration and improvements with Technical Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Manage assigned projects in a global, cross-functional team setting
  • Work jointly with CMC Team Lead to guide and motivate project team members
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive project plans, integrated timelines and budgets
  • Work jointly with CMC Team Lead to set agendas and guide the team
  • Facilitate cross-functional team activities to achieve successful project completion within scope, on schedule and within budget constraints
  • Facilitate meetings, provide meeting minutes and drive action item follow-up
  • Identify project risks and prepare mitigation and contingency plans
  • Create and maintain consistent project documentation including detailed budgets
  • Ensure team conflicts are resolved in a professional and timely manner
  • Provide project management support for organizational projects if requested
  • Identify and implement improvements to project management processes and infrastructure

Skills and Experience

  • B.S. degree in a life science, pharmaceutical science or engineering, Biologics experience a plus
  • 7 or more years of experience in project management including approximately 3 years of independently managing or leading cross-functional project teams in pharma or pharma related industry
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to develop and manage project work plans, integrated timelines and budgets
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong and proactive team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (e.g. Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

Required/Preferred Education

  • B.S. degree in Science or Engineering with experience in project management
  • PMP certification preferred

Description of Physical Demands

  • Occasional mobility within office environment
  • Routinely sitting for extended periods of time
  • Constantly operating a computer, printer or telephone
  • Occasional travel (domestic and international)

Description of Work Environment

  • Work indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
  • Frequent computer use at workstation
  • May move from one location to another occasionally
  • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours in order to meet business demands
  • Occasional public contact requiring appropriate business apparel
