Position Profile

This position resides in Corporate Strategy Function and will contribute to that mission by helping drive a variety of key strategy and planning initiatives at the Corporate level and with key stakeholder groups (Global Molecule Leads, Franchise Leads, Research and Development, Commercial, Business Development, etc.). Accordingly, we are looking for a self-motivated, strategically agile and unquestioned collaborator to join the Strategy team reporting directly to the Executive Director of Strategy.


  • The selected candidate will be responsible for driving elements of the annual planning calendar, particularly those related to Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management.
  • Support and drive the Strategic Planning Process: Partner with Global Molecule Teams and Franchise Teams on development of molecule and  franchise P&Ls, and provide analytical support, interpretations and recommendations on key strategic issues; Help maintain the corporate level LRP (Long Range Plan) model
  • Support  and drive the Portfolio Management Process: Manage the Portfolio Planning Tool, and provide financial and strategic analysis on portfolio options
  • Over time, the selected candidate will also shape and drive strategic initiatives and develop work products (models, frameworks, presentations, recommendations, thought pieces, etc.) for senior level management consideration.

Experiences required for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences and MBA strongly preferred.
  • Superb analytic skills, especially those related to modeling
  • Comfortable developing and interpreting long term financial models (P&L) as well as constructing “back of the envelope” analyses to help support work
  • Strong strategic thinking. Experience and ability to develop and articulate complex strategic issues and ideas. Must be able to both verbally articulate a story and have strong PowerPoint skills to develop executive level slide sets.
  • Nimble and agile. Must be able to work on multiple projects with overlapping timelines and meet all deadlines. Needs to be able to quickly digest and prioritize information.
  • Exceptional Project Management skills and quantifiable results leading/supporting  business strategy projects
  • Demonstrable team leadership skills  in a setting where team members are not direct reports

Following experiences considered a significant plus:

  • Long Term Strategic Planning. Have experience with either long term strategic planning, or corporate strategy development. Includes development of materials (models, slides) for executive level discussions on these topics. Include experience on both the financial/quantitative aspects of long term planning as well as the strategic/qualitative aspects. Prior experience participating or leading strategic planning activities.
  • Industry knowledge. Be adept and knowledgeable about the biotech and biopharma segment.
  • 5-7 years of experience in biotech and biopharma industry in strategy or experienced planning related roles
  • Roles that would leverage a consulting relationship is a plus.
