    Position Profile

    Brief Description:

    The Long-Term Forecasting Director is accountable for the global long-term forecasting function at Jazz.  This individual will oversee the development of long-term forecasts, partner across functions (e.g. commercial, new product planning, operations, leadership teams) to ensure input and assumptions are captured and documented in forecasts, drive alignment on financial projections, and secure approval from leadership.  This position will build a team, develop and lead analysts who will build long-term models, flag and assess root causes of variance between actual and projected performance, and drive alignment on implications of variance.  The long-term forecasting lead will be responsible for operationalizing Jazz’s long-term forecasting governance and process, and running forecasting councils to ensure that financial models are reviewed, updated with current assumptions, and reflective of input from multiple teams at regular intervals.  This individual will partner with Short-Term Forecasting Heads and Business Development Model Heads to manage hand offs, set standards and drive implementation of forecasting best practices, methodologies, and tools/templates to ensure quality outputs.  This individual will also be the steward for compliance to external standards.

    Essential Functions

    • Drive semi-annual updates to the long term forecast
      • Provide guidance and support to forecasting analysts in gathering inputs and assumptions from cross-functional representatives on forecasting councils, identifying optimal forecasting methodologies, and building models
      • Chair semi-annual council meetings to gather feedback on draft forecasts and drive approval
      • Ensure forecast is cascaded to applicable process owners for which the long term forecast is an input 
      • Participate in short term forecast council meetings to ensure considerations of the long term forecast are captured and there is congruence between the long term and short term forecasts
    • Drive review of prior period variances
      • Lead analysts in gathering and documenting actual performance data for prior periods and determining variances against forecasts
      • Investigate potential root causes for variances, determine implications, and drive alignment on forecast variance implications

    • Provide oversight to forecasting process
      • Collaborate with forecasting heads across the organization to embed leading standards, best practices, and exemplary tools, methodologies, and templates in the forecasting process as part of a forecasting center of excellence
      • Embed requirements for external compliance to external standards in the forecasting process and drive compliance
      • Champion the forecast process and ensure methodologies are followed
      • Manage external vendors as needed
    • Develops and Leads Team
      • Highly adept at identifying organizational needs and selecting/retaining talent
      • Proactively seeks out opportunities to accelerate team development and growth opportunities as a result of development needs/capabilities of the team
      • Provides clear goals and responsibilities and a shared vision for the team
      • Ensures that employees are focused on the right set of priorities; drives focused execution throughout the function

     Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • 7+ years of finance, forecasting, and/or analytics experience
    • Pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry experience preferred
    • Demonstrated business analysis and forecasting expertise
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence all levels across executive and leadership teams cross functionally
    • Experience in leading / managing others
    • Extensive knowledge of forecasting methodologies and common data sources used in the pharmaceutical industry
    • Demonstrated track record in driving cross-functional alignment
    • Strong communications skills and ability to drive decisions among cross-functional teams, including leadership
    • Knowledge of forecasting and business analysis best practices and methodologies, and willingness to embed these leading practices into the broader forecasting process at Jazz
    • International experience considered a strong plus
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

    Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

    Description of Physical Demands

    • Occasional mobility within office environment
    • Routinely sitting for extended periods of time
    • Constantly operating a computer, printer, telephone and other similar office machinery.

    Description of Work Environment

    • Work indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
    • Frequent computer use at workstation
    • May move from one work location to another occasionally
    • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands
    • Occasional public contact requiring appropriate business apparel
