    Jazz Pharmaceuticals has been executing a corporate strategy to invest in and increase its R&D capabilities over the past several years.  The Information Technology (IT) department is seeking a Senior Business Solutions Manager to partner with R&D (Project Mgmt, Clinical Development/Operations, Data Mgmt, Regulatory Affairs) in the execution of a systems roadmap that support this strategy.  This role will play a critical role in leading and implementing clinical business systems that optimize the clinical operations process from trial build/conduct, to resource allocation/utilization, and to regulatory submissions.

    The role will encompass varying responsibilities including project management, requirements/process definition, and change management.  This role will be counted on to develop an understanding of the overall clinical development process, including the flow of data between systems at various stages of trial conduct.

    Project Management experience and know-how is essential to plan, execute, and deliver a wide range of projects from complex cross-functional systems implementation projects to annual upgrades, enhancements, encourage system adoption, and provide tier 2-3 support if needed.  This individual must be an excellent communicator and be capable of interfacing and influencing people within all levels of the organization, set realistic expectations, gain alignment across multiple functional stakeholders to achieve success.

    Essential Functions

    • Act as an IT subject matter expert and architect in understanding the “big picture” of pharmaceutical development and how the related systems fit together as well as how critical data flows; and develop and align on an overall eClinical systems strategy and roadmap in partnership with R&D functions
    • Lead and manage cross-functional eClinical systems projects (EDC, IVRS, CTMS, Project Management) in partnership with stakeholders in R&D
    • Develop understanding and documentation of clinical business processes, data, and systems; and identify gaps where system investments could make a meaningful impact
    • Partner with business process owners and business leaders to evaluate and identify process improvement opportunities
    • Lead implementation of annual system releases.  Conduct analysis of features and changes, determine their impact, and inform business partners
    • Create, develop, and document detailed support plans, and maintain runbooks for common issues for the support team to troubleshoot and resolve basic end-user requests
    • Prepare and present written and oral reports containing detailed findings and recommendations to present project status, improve services and operations, and changes in business partner prioritization.
    • Work with user and development groups to identify and document system recommendations for current and future development; work with users to refine process and procedural guidelines.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and 5 years of experience; work in/for pharmaceutical, research and diagnostic industries
    • Strong IT project management experience, including strong understanding of SDLC a plus
    • Experience as a business and/or functional analyst, particularly in definition of business requirements, process design/documentation, and change management
    • Strong understanding of clinical systems, data stored in respective systems, and the flow of data between eClinical systems from trial start to regulatory submissions
    • Strong understanding of clinical business processes from Trial Initiation to Data Lock to Submission a plus
    • Must have strong business and data analysis skills and be able to understand complex healthcare business processes to develop agile and insightful data rich solutions
    • Good understanding of cloud computing / SaaS (software as a service) and exposure to web-based technologies
    • Experience implementing and managing ongoing operations of systems including user support, run books, system enhancements, and upgrades
    • Strong understanding of GxP, CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and computer system validation
    • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail
    • Must possess excellent communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills
    • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and able to multi-task
    • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic work environment

    Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

    • Bachelors degree

     Description of Physical Demands

    • Occasional mobility within office environment.
    • Routinely sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Constantly operating a computer, printer, telephone and other similar office machinery.

    Description of Work Environment

    • Work indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
    • Frequent computer use at workstation.
    • May move from one work location to another occasionally.
    • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands.
    • Occasional public contact requiring appropriate business apparel.
