    Position Profile

    Jazz’s medical affairs (MA) department grew in size and complexity 3 folds in the last few years. As a result we identified the need to support the integration of information and to align the department perspective across the different MA teams. This Associate Director (AD) will support the Vice President, Medical Affairs and the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT) in doing so. The AD will be responsible for the establishment of processes to accommodate the construction and review of budgets, timelines, projects, and communications. The AD will be responsible for the effective implementation of these processes and will help focus the MALT on the departmental goals and objectives. The AD will be responsible for making strategic decisions, and act upon those decisions on behalf of the VP and MALT. This role will be vital in boosting the VP and the MALT effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and accountability.

    This position will provide a unique opportunity to the right person to learn the inner workings of a growing and highly collaborative MA organization. It might be a good fit for an MSL who is thinking about moving in-house or someone new to industry with the right experience and interest.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate and maintain communication with team members across Jazz including MA, Legal, Finance, Commercial, and more to facilitate the department operations and project success.
    • Support the MA organization in creating and managing an annual strategic planning process.
    • Support the MA leadership in creating and managing a quarterly budget review cycle.
    • Supports the identification of metrics, gather information, analyze it and be responsible for creation of status reports and periodic communications to the MA department, MALT, other Jazz employees and Jazz Executive management (department monthly report, annual MA accomplishment report, and more)
    • Resolve any issues and solve problems related to cross therapeutic area and cross projects activities.Elevate MA
    • LT effectiveness and follow through by driving alignment between teams and facilitating annual goals and objectives tracking across the department.
    • Ensure MALT meetings excellence by managing the monthly meetings (scheduling, collaborating with others to set a thoughtful agenda, scribing notes, and disseminating action items).
    • Increase intradepartmental transparency and follow through by supporting the maintenance of therapeutic area MA dashboards. Work with the therapeutic area MA heads to update the dashboard on a regular basis.
    • Supports the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project and program plans, budgeting, and tracking of milestones. This includes project timelines, budgets, and plans for project quality, resources, communications and risks.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • B.S. or B.A required; Masters preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years in an established corporate environment (Pharmaceuticals preferred, Medical Affairs highly preferred).
    • Proven successful management of budgets and projects (project management background and familiarity with project management tools/software highly preferred).
    • Ability to process and prioritize tasks with little-to-no supervision.
    • Organized, details oriented, and have an unrelenting thirst to learn and influence.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment, with the ability to carry out complicated assignments and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences (scientific, business, commercial, etc.)
    • Independently set and meet deadlines and can motivate others to meet deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
    • Strong multi-tasking skills and proven track record with time management.
    • Self-starter with positive can-do attitude.
    • Advanced operation of Microsoft Office – required.
